Words You May Need To Hear

Sometimes when my little girl is falling asleep on me at night, I like to whisper things in her ear.

I say things like…

You're safe here

I believe in you

I will always be proud of you

You have value to share

Always be yourself

I love spending time with you

I whisper these words in the hope that one day, these words will be things she believes for herself and that they become her own self talk.

I also notice that as I say these words to my own child, it also nurtures the child within me.

Many clients I work with missed out on hearing these things growing up.

It's important to understand that our gaps in the past, create our stuck places in the present.

The places where we feel stuck, that feel stressful or frustrating, where we are spinning our wheels, can very often be connected back to this.

Often unconsciously we put our dreams and desires on hold….because we are waiting to hear these words.

The good news is - it's not too late.

That little girl inside of you (who is very real, not a mythical concept) hears every word you say + every thought you think.

What did you need to hear growing up but didn't?

There is tremendous freedom (and healing) available when we can say these words to ourselves now.

I often recommend to clients to get a photo up of themselves (maybe around age 5 or so). Think of the words you're most needing to hear, and make it a daily practice to speak these words over that little girl.

Let that little girl inside know how capable, loved and enough she is.

When you nurture this past version of yourself, watch what changes for you in the present.
